Gorie, "Mickey" and " Koi no Pecori Lesson"

Gorie, Toshiyuki Teruya (22 May 1972, Okinawa, Japan), better known as Gorie or Matsuura Gorie, is a Ryukyuan comedian, variety show host, and musician. He is a Japanese variety show personality host on the Fuji Terebi show One Night R&R. He often appears in drag as a schoolgirl character. He is member of the owarai group Garage Sale. He has collaborated with Jasmine Ann Allen and Yamasaki Joann Shikou and they released 3 singles together. Mickey stayed on top of the single charts for two weeks and was first debut single in the 23 years since Yakushimaru Hiroko's Sailor-fuku to Kikanjuu

He lists the full name of the female cheerleader character he plays to be Matsuura Gorie, as if she were the little sister of Matsuura Aya. His real name and birthyear remain unknown. He frequently appears in magazines and at the end-of-year Kouhaku variety music concert, and is even an exclusive model for Can Cam magazine. At the 2005 Kouhaku, Gorie had a face off between Koda Kumi to see which was the more sexy. Koda Kumi won, but by only 0.2% of the votes.

Gorie first appeared on stage as part of the variety show One Night Thursday in February 2002. At the time, Gorie was a trend-obsessed teenage girl. However, later on Gorie would take the lead role on such skits as Gorie no Ren'ai Manual and Gorie on Yorokobi Life, and would continue to gain fame as a variety personality. In February 2003, Gorie became a model for the teen girl magazine Popteen. In October 2003 Gorie would star with a cameo role in the drama Victory! ~Footgirls no Seishun~ as a cheerleader (his 'big sister' Matsuura Aya was playing a starring role in the drama)

In 2004, Gorie was elected as the mascot girl for Oahu Island in Hawaii. He would release his first single Mickey (backed by Jasmine and Joann) which had its PV filmed in Hawaii. Mickey was originally sung by the UK group Racey as "Kitty" in 1979. However, the version that Gorie covered was the Toni Basil US #1 hit Mickey which has become a cheerleader standard. The single would be a major success, beating out such musical acts as Tokyo Jihen and Porno Graffitti to be #1 for two weeks. This was a record, as it had been 23 years since a debut single had been #1 for two weeks (Yakushimaru Hiroko's Sailor-fuku to Kikanjuu). Since then he has released a single every year. The songs he releases are sung mostly by Jasmine, with backing vocals from Joann. Gorie sometimes yells out things overtop of this.

In June 2006, a new PV with the song Koi no Pecori Lesson. Once again, this song was a cover of a cover. The original was a Billboard #1 hit in 1963 called I Will Follow Him by Peggy March, but the version that Gorie was covering was the Whoopi Goldberg version shown in the movie Sister Act. The music video featured Jasmine, Joann and several dancer kids in nun's habits and in a church for the opening scenes. A total of three PVs would be shot for the song (the first in California, the second at the set of a Japanese period drama and the third a Hello Kitty-themed CGI themepark version. The single, released in September, while still being a hit by reaching #5 was not as successful as either Mickey or Pecori Night.
